Chris S. began coaching in our Aikido program in the fall of 2017. He has been a student of Aikido since 2002, and is currently a second degree black belt. Not only an assistant Aikido instructor since 2012, he has worked with children in many capacities … as an intern at a day care, as an environmental educator, as a counselor in an outdoor program for troubled adolescent boys, and as pre-doctoral intern therapist for children. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology with his research concentrating on The Social Applications of Aikido in the Workplace. Chris is also First Aid and CPR certified. Clearly qualified to teach this discipline, we are most impressed with his natural ease with children and his focused yet fun-filled approach to his classes. He is a perfect fit for our Gold Star staff.
