A.J. began coaching at Gold Star in the spring of 2008, but he has been a member of the Gold Star family for years. In 2006, A.J. joined our hip hop team and contributed to the squad qualifying to Nationals every year. Then in 2012, his team began qualifying to Dance Worlds every year, competing against other nations from around the globe—their highest finish was an impressive third in the U.S. AJ was so enthusiastic about dance that he started a Hip Hop Club at his high school, and is now, since 2012, a Head Instructor for JAMZ Cheer and Dance, which sends him throughout California and Mexico to teach cheer and dance. He has his U.S.A. Gymnastics Safety Certification plus CPR and First Aid and US All Star Federation Dance Certificates. When you watch him teach he is always focused and involved, providing feedback while bopping alongside the kids. A.J. is the type of coach who immediately puts the students at ease with his personable manner and calm personality.
